Conservatory
A conservatory is a permanent, fully enclosed extension of a house, primarily characterised by its glass walls and a glass or predominantly glass roof.
- Structure: It is a structural addition that creates an extra, livable room, seamlessly integrating with the main building's heating and insulation.
- Purpose: Originally used for growing exotic plants (orangeries), modern conservatories function as year-round living spaces, such as sunrooms, dining areas, or home offices, offering ample natural light and panoramic views of the garden.
- Environment: Because it is enclosed, it offers full protection from all weather elements (rain, wind, intense sun) and external noise, though temperature control in peak summer months can sometimes be a challenge without proper ventilation/blinds.
- Permanence: It is a static, often expensive, construction project that significantly adds to the property's square footage and value.
